A beautiful work among the underprivileged
The Asia’s New Generation (ANG) Foundation is reaching out to a minority group called The Tea Harvesters. This minority group of about a million people is located cross bordering three countries in Asia.
Chris and Heleen Mak have worked among them since the beginning of 1997. God called them specifically for these people and reconfirmed their calling this year. They have a team of local workers that reach out to the people in the mountains, caring for the needy and spreading the gospel.
In the neighboring country one of their teams is taking care of 20+ children, teaching them to become bringers and doers of the gospel of Jesus.

In the 25 years that Chris and Heleen Mak and their family have been in the region they feel that the times are changing. God is accelerating whereas the governments are opposing. Most evangelists have left the region. We see and feel the blessing, protection, and favor of the Lord that Chris and Heleen are still there.
The ANG foundation, located in the Netherlands, supports the family Mak and their teams with prayer, a listening ear and fundraising. All finances for the outreach, the projects, wages and the support for the Mak family come from donations.
The situation in the region of The Tea Harvesters is different as they cover three countries, facing diverse political situations, local spiritual pressure like witchcraft, oppression and community pressure when choosing for Jesus, violent border conflicts and poverty.
Although situations show us the reality of day-to-day life, we are also aware of the blessings, and God is opening doors.
It is a blessing to see that we and the teams can still operate and manifest more of God’s love.

Two couples within the team will establish themselves in remote mountain villages where they will start schools. These schools will help to teach kids in reading, writing, calculating and be trained in the good news of Jesus. It is amazing that two couples decided to reach out and live in these remote areas.
The ANG foundation is going to build two basic school buildings with the facilities for the couples to live there.
A piece of land has been bought for setting up a local church. This is a basic place where people can meet, worship and feel to belong. This is important as it shows presence within the communities.
The basic shelter building can also be used to invite people in to learn and hear the Good News.
ANG is going to create a studio with equipment for the outreach.
The people of this minority group have their own language. This means that all materials need to be created especially for The Tea Harvesters.
Costs per location
- School building including residential area: €6,000
- Costs of living (food, energy etc.) for one year, per couple: €2,000
This means we are looking for a donation of €16,000 in total.
